The Hotel Schlosskrone is a house with a long tradition. By 1896 opened John and Julie Schoell on Schrannenplatz a small pastry shop with café and a garden. Quickly the two made with their pastry art a name, which is why thei pastry shop relocated in 1906 to the center of Fuessen to the Prinzregentenplatz. It did not take long and the Royal Highnesses in Hohenschwangau and Bavarian nobility discovered the sweet treats in fine pastry. Highnesses as Prince Luitpold of Bavaria and the Majesty Empress Elisabeth, known as Sissi, visited at this time the pastry to indulge in the sweet treats. Especially for Empress Sissi a chocolate truffle cream cake was made, which is still manufactured to this recipe and sold as “Sissi-Torte”.
