The region around the royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau in Füssen offers exactly the right thing for walks and hikes. An excursion to the royal castles is a great trip idea for the whole family. A spring hike to the “Königsschlösser” offers a wealth of varied impressions and guarantees a lot of fun. Start your hike directly at our Hotel Schlosskrone, cross the street and walk along the pedestrian zone, along the “Reichenstraße”. Pas the “Stadtbrunnen” keep left and go down the “Lechhalde”. Below the “Theresienbrücke” you walk directly along the “Lech” and follow the signs to “Hohenschwangau” and “Schwanensee”. From the “Schwanensee” you have a great view of both castles “Neuschwanstein” and “Hohenschwangau”.

You can find the Ticket Center directly in „Hohenschwangau“. Tickets for the “Königsschlösser” can only be purchased at the Ticket Center, which can only be visited as part of a half-hour guided tour. Both castles are well signposted, so there is no danger of getting lost. “Hohenschwangau” Castle is a 15-minute walk from the Ticket Center away. You can also walk the distance from the Ticket Center to “Neuschwanstein” Castle (about 40 minutes), or opt for the lighter option and take the shuttle bus or choose the horse-drawn carriage.

One of the most famous buildings in the world: the dream castle of the Bavarian Fairy Tale King “Ludwig II”. “Neuschwanstein” Castle was built in 1869 in the style of a huge medieval castle high above the rushing “Pöllat Schlucht”. The castle itself was dedicated to Ludwig the composer Richard Wagner. That’s why you can admire paintings and illustrations from Wagner’s operas in almost every room.
